It is an unacceptable situation.  Every Australian deserves a safe affordable secure home.  None more so than our most vulnerable.

WIN Housing Projects is administered by Rtn Dianne Estreich, Broadwater Southport Rotary Club.

The Mission

To provide 5,000 homes to 5,000 women in need, over 5 years.

The Homes

What type of homes are suitable for older women? Rental or ownership? What is affordable?  Research has identified the following criteria.  The WIN Housing Projects model has been acknowledged as appropriate, suitable & scaleable, and encouraged to be submitted to the State’s “Ideas Bank” for assessment for rolling out across the State, by any developer or Community Housing Provider, and potentially with State Government funding and provision of land under State lease. (With 100yr tenure).

A: Rental Model

1 or 2 bedroom small modular homes eg Fleetwood or Modula Homes design (min Gold standard)
Rents capped at a max of 30% of total income

B: Ownership Model

1 or 2 bedroom small modular homes eg Fleetwood or Modula Homes design (min Gold standard)
Cost to purchase:  ranging from $100k - $200k – target group “at risk”, women who have some savings / super, who want to own their own home, but cant’ afford to do so in open market.
Total living costs (inc any loan repayments) capped at a max of 35% of total income

Model Village

2022 – WIN Housing Projects plans to build a model village, displaying a range of suitable homes, as described above, demonstrating the reality of providing the right homes at a price affordable to not just single women over 50, but to any vulnerable group.  A demonstration both scalability and suitability for any vulnerable group at risk of homelessness.
It is anticipated that with the Model Village completed, and the WIN Housing model assessed and adopted, “villages” of this model will be supplied throughout the State, and beyond.  WIN Housing Projects will have completed it’s mission to contribute to the end of homelessness for older women.

ABOUT VOICE4OLDERWOMEN.ORG

Voice4OlderWomen.org is a registered charity organisation, under ACNC.

The Charity was formed for two purposes:

  • Raising awareness of the housing crisis that faces single women over 50, at risk of homelessness.
  • Latest published numbers indicate there are some 400,000 older women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Australia.  Demand far outstrips supply, even planned future supply.  The system is broken.  The National Affordable Housing Alliance (NAHA) was created to inform solutions aimed at bringing an end to the housing crisis.
  • Fund raising activities to provide assistance to women moving into their new forever home.
Assistance may include – help with a bond, or deposit, cost of a removalist, a furniture,  white goods or electrical items package.
