Synergistic Leadership - effective leadership of volunteer teams in not-for-profit organisations
Oct 08, 2021
Professor David Robinson was honoured with the Australian Universities’ Educator of the Year Award in 2018 and he currently leads Australia’s largest private college's MBA program. A graduate of several universities in different countries, his research in the field of leadership, entrepreneurship and business ethics is internationally renowned. He was a Charter Member and President of the Rotary Club of Cape Town Waterfront (1991-1993) and the Rotary Club of Port Elizabeth Sunrise (1993-1999), both of which were the first in their cities to hold their meeting as Friday breakfasts and also the first to have women as members). Dave completed his 10 year Rotary journey in 2002 at the Rotary Club of Grahamstown, with a 100% attendance record. Dave's leadership experience ranges from ‘big pharma’ manufacturing through to project management and international consulting, but (more importantly) in surf-lifesaving clubs, competitive surfing, service clubs, foundations and committees, and other situations that demand effective team leadership that is not driven by a profit motive, thus requiring the leader to be well-versed in the Principles of Synergy, which is our topic of discussion on Friday. An Update on the Broadwater Southport Rotary Club's Website & HAT DAY
Oct 15, 2021
https://www.broadwatersouthportrotary.org/ Mike will speak to Members on the updated Rotary Club of Broadwater Southport's website and provide some insights into the workings of ClubRunner and how the platform can be used for emailing members, scheduling speakers, and sharing weekly news bulletins. https://hatday.com.au/about-us Wear a hat in support of Rotary's Lift the Lid on Mental Illness HAT DAY. 1 in 5 Aussies are affected by a mental illness every year, but it’s not something we tend to talk about. These illnesses include anxiety, depression, eating disorders, dementia, schizophrenia and many more. This is why it's so important that we Lift the Lid on Mental Illness by funding mental health research. By supporting Hat Day, you’ll be making a real difference by helping to raise funds for important research focusing on early intervention and prevention of mental illness in young people aged 0-25. Proceeds of the Sergeant's session will be donated to the research fund. Rto |

ABOUT Gold Coast Photographic SocietyGuest speakers:
Mark Pritchard, President & Andy Swinfield
Gold Coast Photographic Society
The Club has been in existence as the Gold Coast Camera Club for Approximately 55 years (records are a little unclear on when the Club first began). The Club name was changed in 2000 to the Gold Coast Photographic Society. We average 70 – 90 members with a wide range of ages and backgrounds. The Club generally meets 3 times per month on a Thursday evening. There is usually a field trip each month where members meet up for a range of photography activities. Most Club nights are held at our Worongary location and provide opportunities for members to participate in club competitions, listen to presenters and speakers on photography related topics and undertake practical activities. Details of this years activities can be found on our Events Page. However, at times we have an online presence with inter-state and international presenters and these sessions are held via Zoom as our preferred platform. |
