Cycling Without Age is a not-for-profit charity that provides a community service by connecting those no longer able to ride for themselves with their community and the outdoors by giving them free rides on trishaw ebikes, piloted by volunteer cyclists.

Wayne Sticher, Community Captain for Cycling Without Age Gold Coast, will speak to us about what Cycling Without Age does.

As a keen touring cyclist, Wayne knows the pleasure of riding a bicycle, whether it’s a trip from the Gold Coast to Mount Isa or Mount Isa to Uluru across the top of the Simpson Desert.

Riding solo and unsupported gives you time to think. One thing which wouldn’t leave my mind was the Ted Talk I viewed prior to one of my rides about a guy in Denmark who commenced a charity which takes the elderly for a ride on trishaws.

image  With the same determination needed to survive in remote areas on a bicycle, Wayne set about commencing and building a Cycling Without Age Chapter on the Gold Coast. In just over two years, it became the largest Chapter in Australia and one of the largest in the world.

Cycling Without Age is a volunteer community group offering free Trishaw e-bike rides and rides to elderly, less-abled, socially isolated, or people who just want some company using bikes which carry wheelchairs.

Our aim is to provide reconnection to the community and environment. Guided by principles of generosity, slowness, relationships, storytelling, joy and dignity, our rides provide a memorable experience for all.
imageThe work has only just begun with many layers of benefit already having been discovered and the possibility of touching the lives of many people throughout many more areas.
